DELIVERY METHOD

  • Prework: Participants will receive curated assignments along with learning materials, such as readings or videos
  • Sessions: Each session will feature a flexible structure of interactive lectures, breakout activities, and debriefing discussions. Following action learning principles, each participant will have a major assignment of conducting a mini facilitation of collective decision-making using AI and other technologies. The program will also showcase how collective decision making took place for developing a company-wide mission statement, values, vision, and goals ensuring alignment, taking an OKR (Objectives & Key Results) approach.

DAY 1: INTRODUCTION, DETERMINING NEEDS, AND SELECTING TOOLS

  • Introduction to collaborative technology, generative AI, and Hope-Action Theory (HAT)
  • Assessing organizational needs and determining a project for collective decision-making
  • Criteria for evaluating and selecting tools
  • Introduction to the six steps of integrating technologies for OD

Day 2: CONFIGURING PLATFORMS AND PREPARING USERS

FACILITATOR’S BIO

Dr. Hyung Joon Yoon

Associate Professor of Education at Penn State Workforce Education and Development

Dr. Hyung Joon Yoon, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Workforce Education and Development (WFED) in the Department of Learning and Performance Systems at the Pennsylvania State University. He is also the Professor-in-Charge of the WFED program. Prior to joining Penn State, he was an Assistant Professor of Human Resource Development (HRD) and Program Coordinator of the HRD Program at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco, as well as Assistant Professor of Human and Organizational Learning at the George Washington University.

Academic Leadership

At Penn State, Dr. Yoon shapes the future of workforce education through innovative teaching, research, leadership. He has developed courses including WFED 582 Assessing Data: Organizational Diagnosis, WFED 403 Technologies for Work Effectiveness, and WFED 876 Facilitating Organization Development and Change through Technology, which directly align with modern organization development practices.

Corporate Leadership

Since May 2023, Dr. Yoon has been leading organizational transformation at Taejeon Group, a 90-year-old pharmaceutical company in South Korea, while maintaining his academic position at Penn State University. This dual role enables him to bridge theoretical frameworks with practical applications in organization development. He has also worked with organizations such as LG Display, Korea Leadership Center, the Korean Army, Penn State Management Development Programs and Services, and Penn State Career Services as an HRD practitioner, career coach, and OD consultant. Additionally, he facilitated Franklin Covey’s time management program, “Focus,” in South Korea, China, Japan, and the United States, earning the Individual Greatness Award for the program’s measurable effectiveness.

Research and Innovation

Dr. Yoon’s scholarly work focuses on empowering individuals and organizations with human agency and hope. He developed the Human Agency-Based Individual Transformation (HABIT) model and an associated assessment tool, the Assessment of Human Agency (AHA). He co-developed the Hope-Action Theory (HAT) and the Hope-Action Inventory (HAI), which have been translated into multiple languages, including Chinese, German, Korean, Hebrew, Greek, Turkish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Italian. These tools and frameworks are widely used to help individuals live fulfilling lives and support career development globally.

Professional Recognition

Dr. Yoon’s contributions have earned him NCDA Fellow status for his impactful research, leadership, teaching, and service in the career development field, complemented by certifications such as Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) and Career Development Facilitator Instructor. He served as an Associate Editor of Human Resource Development Review, a leading theory-building journal in HRD, from 2020 to 2023. Additionally, he was a Trustee-At-Large on the board of directors for the National Career Development Association (NCDA) from 2013 to 2019.
